the first release from bourbonese qualk's recloose organisation label was a compilation release intended to be followed up by albums by each of the artists. the album included works by lol coxhill, eg oblique graph (muslimgauze), new 7th music, la fondation, colin potter and bourbonese qualk with two early pieces; " i've heard some talk" and "the women and the sun" recorded in 1981.

"AYERS: "This was a fund raising benefit album for striking miners and their families. One of the last great battles against Thatcherism. I had a big list of famous groups who said they'd donate a track to this album, and in the end didn't. But, ho ho ho, some of the tracks on this record are very famous artists whose names still cannot be revealed for contractual reasons."Maggy is a pub rock song about the woman herself. Fallout's Trojan Horse is in fact a spiritualist's recording of a band-from-beyond-the-grave made up of Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Bob Marley, John Lennon, Keith Moon and Nico. They are performing a cover version of Tie a Yellow Ribbon. The Assassins are in fact the Assassins of Hope, which is a village in Derbyshire. The Band of Holy Joy perform a final track from their early electronic period. Many Happy Returns' vocalist is Larry Peterson, who I last saw many years ago being strangled by his guitarist in the Old White Horse on Brixton Road. Nocturnal Emissions present a special pneumoconiosis version of Bring Power To Its Knees - it's a big hit at the Miners' Welfare. Language is a Walford Buchanon track. Max Closure and the Graves is another secret supergroup with a singer called Dave. I think that might be my vocal talents on both the Qualk and the Lustmord tracks. Annie Anxiety calls herself Little Annie these days to avoid confusion with Anne Xiety, a stand-up act. The record ended up being distributed partly through orthodox record shops and partly through a chain of wholefood shops."

"this.co is a new electronica/technoid label based in portugal and, along two quite impressive albums from sci-fi industries and ras.al.ghul, has released a compilation to introduce the sound the new house will bring to our eager ears. as much sci-fi industries and ras.al.ghul were two very distinct releases for the young label, thisconnected is a diverse compilation showcasing many sub-genres of electronica/technoid. it starts with column one and drop of water, a, as expected, minimal flowing piece made of bleeps, soft electronics and samples manipulation. similarly, marc wannabe gives with ja ja a groovy track of glitchy electronics and repeated loops along with boubonese qualk and its nine min. eleven secs track which is, indeed, a 9 :11mins collage of hypnotizing electronic layers and floating guitars. as one could think we’re in front of a bip-hop generation-ish sampler, sci-fi industries shifts the mood by contributing with its drum'n'bass flavored secret cloister, a neat groovy (yet, less impressive than the album’s material) track. more industrial sounds can be found with the participation of delphium and the grinding new april made of repeated loops and noisy rhythms. french artists mimetic mute appears with a new version of negative album moot point moving with more pronounced techno groove with industrial tones. the mood changes again with ras.al.ghul whom contribute with two distinct solid pieces, the mid-eastern muslimgauze-ish ring shape and the dark ambient of o’ra. a bit of "musique de chambre" is even featured with solitary confinement by matt howden, a beautiful piece of piano and cello along subtle electronic manipulations. there is definitely something for everyone here and even if many distinct sub-genres collide here, the final result is solid. thisconnected is a well focussed and realized compilation that only announces good promises for this young portugese label.
